3. Service Description
Crosswire is a web application that lets users compare how major media outlets across countries present their front pages, side by side.
The service may include:
Browsing news outlets by country or favorites
Side-by-side comparison of outlet front pages via a server-side proxy
Automatic language translation of proxied content
Interactive 3D globe for country selection
Layout and display customization
We may update, improve, or modify features over time.
4. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
Use Crosswire for unlawful purposes
Attempt unauthorized system access
Abuse, disrupt, scrape, or interfere with service operations
Use Crosswire to circumvent paywalls or access restrictions on news outlets
Crosswire proxies publicly available content from news websites for comparison purposes only.
5. Content and Intellectual Property
All news content displayed through Crosswire remains the intellectual property of the respective news outlets. Crosswire does not claim ownership of any proxied content.
Crosswire's own application code, design, and branding are the property of Nexo Apex SL.
6. Proxied Content Notice
Crosswire renders third-party news websites through a server-side proxy for comparison purposes. We do not control, edit, or endorse the content of these websites. Some outlets may not render correctly due to their own technical restrictions.
7. Translation Notice
Crosswire offers automatic translation of proxied content using third-party translation services. Translations are automated and may contain errors, omissions, or inaccuracies. You should not rely on translations for professional or legal purposes.
8. Paid Features in the Crosswire Apps
Crosswire is free to use on the web. The Crosswire mobile applications offer optional paid features. This section states precisely what a purchase pays for.
What a purchase funds. A purchase funds the service Nexo Apex SL operates and the work it performs: the servers, bandwidth and engineering that fetch, normalise, render and deliver outlet front pages on demand; the ongoing maintenance and reliability of that infrastructure; the compilation, review, correction and curation of the outlet directory, including its editorial-orientation classifications, outlet type classifications and descriptions; the automatic translation service applied to pages at your request; and the comparison, layout and organisation tools built by Nexo Apex SL.
What a purchase does not buy. A purchase is not a payment for, a licence to, a subscription to, or a sale of any news content. Crosswire does not own the journalism shown in its comparison panes, does not host it as a publication, does not archive it for redistribution, and claims no right in it. A purchase grants you no rights in that material whatsoever. Each pane is a live view of the publisher's own page, rendered on request and linking back to that publisher's site, and all rights in it remain with the publisher as set out in the Content and Intellectual Property section above.
Usage allowances. Free use of the mobile applications includes a monthly allowance of comparisons. That allowance is a limit on your use of Crosswire's own fetching, rendering and translation infrastructure, which each comparison consumes at a real and measurable cost. It is not a charge for access to any publisher's content: no outlet, country or curated comparison is reserved for paying users, none is priced differently from any other, and the entire outlet directory is available on the free tier. The current allowance is stated in the applications and in the store listings.
Processing and refunds. Purchases are processed by Apple or Google under their own terms, and refunds are handled by them according to their policies.
Nothing in this section grants any right in third-party content, and nothing in it is intended to characterise Crosswire, or Nexo Apex SL, as a licensor, publisher or distributor of that content.
9. Privacy and Cookies
Your use of Crosswire is also governed by our Privacy Policy.
In short:
We apply data minimization — no personal data is stored on our servers
Essential cookies are used for operation
Analytics cookies are optional and only enabled with your consent
10. Availability and Changes
We aim for reliable service but do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free availability. We may suspend or change parts of Crosswire for maintenance, security, legal, or product reasons.
11. Disclaimer
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Crosswire is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied.
Nexo Apex SL is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of Crosswire.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability where such limitation is prohibited by applicable law.
12. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by applicable laws of Spain and the European Union, without prejudice to mandatory consumer protection rights that may apply in your country of residence.
These Terms are published in several languages for convenience. In the event of any discrepancy or conflict between versions, the English version prevails.
